So I read The Shepherd's Crown.

Not sure what I make of it - it's strangely like a conscious wrapping up of some things. (Although that doesn't really fit what has been said about when it was written.)

[No spoilers within - just general rambling.]

A friend is looking for one to develop something for their business. I don't know all the details, but my impression is they need quite a bit of support, so it might suit a small/medium firm better than a lone gun...

Post a comment or PM me...

Thanks...

Help!
By Metatone (Thu Feb 04, 2010 at 08:39:06 AM EST) (all tags)
I need help with suggestions for a simple CMS.

So I have:

A linux server, still on Debian at the moment. Some animations that need posting. Often several versions - it's a place where draft versions go for viewing on the way to the final cut.

What I do now:

FTP the animation up, email the relevant person the direct link to the animation - they click on the link and view/download.

There are some chefs who have developed a reputation for mixing Indian techniques with more local ingredients to interesting effect.

Most ubiquitous of these would be one Atul Kochhar who seems to be all over the telly these days.

For those who read my lst diary, I went to the first funeral and it passed off relatively quickly and smoothly, despite traffic.

W had 4 more heart attacks in the night and wasn't revivable. Funeral is next Wed.

Last night, Mr. D, one of my Dad's oldest friends in England (who I've known since I was remembering knowing people) died too. 91.

So, that's 3. I'm ready for my good news now?

Some weeks things really roll together in unfortunate ways.

My mother's Uncle R died. He was 94, so you can't complain, but still, not the best start of the week.

My mother's best friend has cancer. This week they spent several appointments explaining how incredibly risky surgery is. It's clear they don't want to operate. And they keep using the phrase "could die within a couple of weeks."

have put the good ship Mindless Optimism into drydock.

Inside, a description of the damage and given that the ship is in drydock, I get the chance to talk properly about football for a change.

(This diary is mostly about footy, so if you're not interested, walk on by.)

writing average columns come up with little phrases that brighten Sunday morning.

e.g.

From here:

Harry has been engulfed by this tide of self-righteousness, swollen by those who have the Daily Mail where their hearts should be and who, if they were honest, have enjoyed every moment of the story, even while condemning the prince.

I just like the phrase "those who have the Daily Mail where their hearts should be"

Another boring quote inside:
