Masters Snooker starts today...

However, the odds look pretty measly so far, but perhaps you have some magic combinations in mind?

These are the odds going at my current online betting place of choice (www.gamebookers.com) It should be noted, the only reason I bet here is they do "draw no bet" on football, which is my primary requirement.

I won a bit Ireland and Wales rugby yesterday, but don't really feel there's much to choose in the England vs France game today.

if it's not the Snout-Peddlers World Championship, it's just another filler tournament with a disingenuous title. I know - The Masters is supposedly the second-most-important competition - but how do they decide these things? Magnitude of cash prize? Hot air?

Like you say, there's not much in those odds to get excited about. However: I recently did the unthinkable, the unforgivable, the hideously vile and sub-human deed of putting Edward Elgar on Manchester United to win the Premiership, at odds of 19 / 2 (they've since dropped). Couldn't resist (Sorry, jtl).

a) Money on the Utd? WTF? What were you thinking?

b) Importance (at least for betting terms) is rooted in number of frames played, which reduces the freaky result factor somewhat...

b.) Yeah - plus I remembered a great masters final 'twixt Hendry and Williams. It would be good if they reverted to the 70 frame+ format - it'd add a 'The Hustler' / 'They Shoot Horses ...' element.

I've never gambled on sports, but I was really, really tempted to throw down a few C notes on some of the USian football playoff games this year...
